This was the first venture for Sam and I into the wilderness of the US. We had done a lot of hiking over the last year on the North Shore of Vancouver and up towards Whistler so we thought we would try something new. My goodness, what a treat we were in for.
Today we decided to head out a little further from Vancouver. We had been on the 3 main mountains of North Shore (Cypress, Seymour and Grouse) over the the last 3 weeks so we thought we should mix it up a little. So we challenged ourselves to take on the 3 peaks of the Squamish Chief Hike.
My hike in Grotto Canyon (Bow Valley) was the first step into the Canadian Rockies and the first of my trip with Loz, my housemate from back in the UK. This her first trip to north of the boarder and therefore her first experience in the great Canadian wilderness.
Now that things are a little more settled in my travels, myself and my housemates are making a concerted effort to get out of the city at every given possibility. This usually means the weekends.
It probably comes to no surprise that Grouse Grind, on Vancouver’s North Shore, was the first hike I did in Vancouver. It was my first exposure to the Great Outdoors of North America and gave me a taste of what living here could be like.
